Diverse Phylum of diploblastic animals that includes Classes Hydrozoa (freshwater polyps, small jellyfish), Scyphozoa (large jellyfish), and Anthozoa (sea anemones and stony corals). Characteristically the ectoderm has specialized stinging cells containing nematocysts.
